Physical Education and Sports form an essential and significant part of student life. At the individual level it contributes to the maintenance and improvement of health, providing wholesome leisure time activity. It enables one to overcome the drawbacks of stress filled modern living. Sports bring healthy balance. Participation in Physical education and sports activities improves fitness, leadership quality, determination, self confidence, perseverance, competitive and team spirit. On the whole it improves one’s quality of life. Department of Physical education plays a significant role in shaping and moulding the students’ mind and body through sports activities, contributing to the aim of providing  quality education directed at  all round development of the students..

Objectives of the Department:

  • To motivate more students to participate in sports and games.
  • To promote holistic health and development of the students.
  • To train the students to excel in their field of sports.
  • To improve the standard of sports and games by providing proper training facilities.
  • To encourage participation of students in athletic meets and tournaments.


Many students have been trained to participate at the International, National, State, District, Taluk, Inter-collegiate and Inter-varsity levels. Coaching is given in Power-lifting, Weight Lifting, Basket-Ball, Volley-Ball, Hand-ball, Soft-Ball, Badminton, Ball-Badminton, Kabaddi, Foot-Ball, Throw-Ball, Chess, Yogasana, Table-Tennis and Athletics and students have brought laurels to the college at these levels. Training is integral to performance. With this in mind a well equipped 12 station multi-gym sponsored by Ministry of Youth and Sports Welfare is set up.
