"People Management - Issues and Concerns"- A One Day National Conference
Roshni Alumni Association (regd.) in Association with NIPM Mangalore chapter and HRM Forum – School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, jointly organised a One-day National Conference on “People Management: Issues and Concerns”. The Conference was held at the Maria Paiva Hall in the campus of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on 14th of August 2019.
More than 150 delegates attended the Conference from more than ten Institutes of Social Work in Mangalore, and other Management Education Institutions across the City and State.
Delegates included Faculty teaching HR students, field practitioners and many others from various disciplines related to HR like Law, Criminology, Corporate / Organizational Psychology.
The Conference was organised by four eminent Alumni of the Roshni Alumni Association –Sri S.N. Gopinath, Ex- Chairman, NIPM Karnataka Chapter, Bengaluru ,Sri Bhima Rao, HR Advisor, Bengaluru, Sri. H.N. Somshekarappa, Dirctor, People Excel Consulting, Bengaluru.Sri Ravichandra Bekal, Founder and Consultant, R.B. Consultancy Services, Bengaluru and Mr. C. Odessey Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru.
While the Conference is a part of the homecoming celebrations of the Roshni Alumni Association for its members, it also aims to plough back the experiential knowledge base of its Alumni into its Alma Mater for the wider benefit of its students and society.
On the occasion, a digital directory of all 7000 students that have passed out from the Roshni campus – Under-graduate and Post-Graduate Degree and Diploma was published. The Digital Directory is the outcome of months of effort by the members of the Association.
The Digital Directory is expected to inform, connect and encourage Alumni to return to their Alma Mater frequently for the benefit of faculty and students who can learn a lot from their library of experiences.

Annual Report: Roshni Alumni Association Bangalore: 2019-2020
In July, 2019 Roshni Alumni Association, Bangalore Chapter contributed Rs. 3,00,000/- of which the interest of Rs. 1,00,000/- will be used for mid-day meals and the interest of Rs. 2,00,000/- will be used for financial assistance for deserving students. Mr. Anand D’Silva, President, RAA Bangalore Chapter, Mr. Ganaraj Pavalkodi and presented the cheque to Dr. Juliet C. J.
Shri. Vasanth Kumar Kamila was elected as the President of Roshni Alumni Association, Bangalore Chapter for the year 2019-2020 and the new executive committee was formed. Mr. Mohan Naik N. was elected as the Secretary and Mr. Amith Rai was elected as the treasurer. The valuable contributions of the former president, Mr. Anand D’Silva, Secretary, Mr. Ganaraj Pavalkodi and executive committee members are acknowledged with gratitude.
The association was re-named as “Roshni Alumni Association Bangalore”. Further it was decided to bring modification to the existing by-law. Accordingly the by-law of the association was amended. The Association was registered with Registrar of Society on 25.11.2019 in the new name.
The Annual Day was celebrated on 14.12.2019 at Hotel Capitol. Prof. Krishne Gowda chaired the function and addressed the gathering. Dr. Jacinta d’Souza, former Principal also addressed Roshnite’s and shared new initiatives of School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya. At this programme Shri. U.K. Hasanabba –Executive Director of BEML and Dr. B. K. Baralaya – BIRDS, Belgaum were felicitated for their outstanding contribution in the field of Human Resource Development and Community Development Respectively.
An interactive session on “ Factories Act 1948 and Line Managers Roles and Responsibilities” was organized on 30th May 2020 at Hotel Capitol. As many as 185 members participated in this programme.
An interactive session with Provident Fund Authority was organized on 13.02.2020. Shri. Narayana Kamma –Additional Central PF Commissioner of Karnataka, shared various initiatives introduced by the PF Authority for clearing the claims, benefits, loan facilities etc. This session was beneficial for 135 members.
The Association organized its annual sports day on 1st March 2020 at HAL Sports Ground. Approximately 100 Roshnites actively participated in sports like, Throw Ball, Cricket, Lagori, Tug of War and made this event special and unforgettable.

Roshni Nilaya Global Alumni Meet 2017 organised at Dubai, UAE
Dubai: On Saturday February 18, 2017 the much awaited 'Roshni Nilaya Global Alumni' annual meet was successfully held at Lotus Grand Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The event was gracefully blessed by the faculty team members from Roshni Nilaya, Dr. Laxmi Narayana Bhat – Registrar, Dr. Rameela Shekar – Dean Post Graduate Department, Dr. Flossy Rayappan – Physical Education Director and Joselyn Lobo - Associate Professor, Dean Under Graduate Department were a witness to the teacher pupil relationship Roshnites have practiced under the motto of the college “Love is made fruitful in service”.
Former Roshni students from the US, Canada, UK, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and India were present for the occasion. Each shared their experiences on the influence the institution of Roshini Nilaya had in developing their personalities and laying a strong foundation based on high ethics and service oriented values which enabled them to achieve success in their professional and personal lives.
The evening was compered by Raymond Fernandes who is an alumni as well as former basketball coach at Roshni Nilaya. The stage for the evening was set by Roshnites Preetam Pereira, Sanjai D’cunha and Ashok Palan who gave a scintillating performance of the traditional, South Kanara dance form of Pili Veshaaka Tiger dance. Delma D’Silva welcomed the alumni and faculty, followed by the alumni singing the college anthem.
Ms. Nicole Meiklea professional in team building and behavioral skills conducted an ice breaking / team building activity which got the team rewinding to nostalgic memories of their college days. The activity lead to the alumni of various batches from different parts of the world sharing their testimonies on the influence Roshni Nilaya has contributed towards development of their personalities both professional and personal lives.
The entire faculty addressed the gathering with their inspirational words and congratulated the Middle East Chapter team members led by the vision of Abdul Rahman Bava, with other fellow Roshnites, Nirmala Madtha, Delma D’Silva, Lancy Menezes, Mercy Fernandes, Raymond Fernandes, Ashok Palan, Sanjai Dcunha and Preetham Pereira who volunteered for conducting the first Global Alumni meet.
Professor Joselyn Lobo, then initiated the formation of a core committee headed by Abdul Rahman Bava nominated as the President of the Middle East Chapter, Pavitra Boppanna as Vice President, Veena Mukesh as Secretary, Johnson D’Souza as Joint Secretary and Ashok Palan as Treasurer.
Nirmala Madtha extended the vote of thanks on behalf of the organizing committee. Thereafter the event began with the various entertainment shows to lighten up the mood for the evening .
DJ Harry & Glayden D’Souza left the alumni grooving to their music.

The alumni enjoyed the entire program and at the end of the event cruised ahead to their destinations carrying nostalgic memories of their alma mater – Roshni Nilaya.
