MANGALORE, April 14, 2024 - The School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya commemorated the 133rd birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with a vibrant celebration held at Maria Paiva Hall in Valencia, Mangalore. The event, which took place from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, was organized by the SC/ST Cell under the leadership of its Chairperson, Mr. Sandeep Ullal, with support from NSS and YRC coordinators.
Dr. Kiran Prasad, Dean of Academics, graced the occasion as the chief guest, alongside guests of honor Prof. Vineetha K Rai, Registrar (Evaluation), and Dr. Sandra Lobo, NAAC Coordinator. Dr. Jenis Mary P, Vice Principal, delivered the presidential address.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and garlanding of Dr. Ambedkar's portrait. NSS volunteers presented a stirring rendition of "Kranthi Geete," a revolutionary song dedicated to Ambedkar's legacy. Ms. Navya, an NSS leader, provided a concise overview of Dr. Ambedkar's life and his significant contributions to Indian society.
In his keynote address, Dr. Kiran Prasad highlighted Dr. Ambedkar's nation-building efforts and emphasized the importance of social service. The event aimed to familiarize students with Ambedkar's works and reforms, drawing attention to his enduring impact on Indian society and governance.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by NSS volunteer Ms. Sheryashree, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Faculty members and students alike participated in the event, demonstrating the institution's commitment to honoring India's social reformers and instilling these values in the next generation.
