As a part of academic curriculum, the second year students of Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice Specialization had visited ‘Family Service Agency(FSA), School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya Mangaluru on Saturday, 7th May 2022 at 11am.
Dr. Jecinta D’Souza, Director, FSA encouraged students to interact with Family Counselling Centre and Childline. The main objective of the visit is to learn the functioning of the FSA, various services provided to the Society, and types of cases dealt related to women and child issues. Mrs. Sunila, an ex- counsellor shared her experience with students regarding the services they provide in family service agency and the process of counselling women and children. Being served for more than 34 years in the field, she shared the challenges faced during the protection and rehabilitation of the clients.
Further, Ms. Shwetal K explained about the cases taken up by the agencies pertaining to domestic violence, child related cases, family disputes. Students got an opportunity to learn about the working conditions, cases handled by the agencies, awareness programmes conducted in the community and rehabilitative measure provided by them. Altogether, 8 students interacted with 3 staffs of Family Service Agency.
