As a part of academic curriculum, the second year students of Post Graduate department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice Specialization accompanied by Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Assistant Professor, MSc Criminology and Forensic Science(CFS) of the college had visited INCHARA: Non-Governmental Organization Working for the Crime Victims on Thursday, 18th May 2023 at 2pm.
The main objective of the visit was to learn the functions of Non-Governmental Organization working for the survivors of Child Sexual Abuse. Ms. Sowjanya, Program Coordinator and Researcher briefed the overall functioning of the organization and the projects conducted, programmes conducted and the cases undertaken pertaining to the child sexual abuses. Project Angel, Model Safe School initiative, Inchara home and after care services are the prime things that are handled in the NGO she said. They conduct occasional training, Computer training, craft making, stitching bags and marketing those items to help the survivors of crime victims for the purpose of their education.
Students expressed that the visit gave them an insight to set up an NGO, various training and services provided by them, and challenges faced during the rescue and rehabilitation of crime victims. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Likhitha V.K., a student of MSc CFS at 4pm. Altogether, 7 students and one faculty of the college, 15 survivors of crime victims, and 4 staff members of the organization (27) were present during the visit.
