The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized a workshop on the topic “Research Methods in Forensic Science” for second year students of MSc CFS both Questioned Document and Impression Evidences (QDIE) and Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice (FPCJ) specializations on 14th August 2023 at 10.00 am in the PG Department of CFS. Mr. Vajagathali M., Research Scholar, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and also an Alumnus of the institution was the resource person. He was also being awarded with ‘Young Researcher Award 2021’ by the Institute of Scholars and has published various research articles, presented research papers which has been appreciated too.
The aim of the workshop is to provide insight into the research techniques in Forensic Science, Preparation of research articles in Scopus indexed Journals, Research methods applied in Forensic Science. The workshop began by invoking God’s blessings with a prayer song. Ms. Shresta Mendon introduced the resource person. Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head, Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science gave the introductory note. Faculties of the department, Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Mr. Niketh P S and Ms. Athira V J were also present on this occasion.
Mr. Vajagathali gave an insight to the students about the procedure that has to be followed in research. Further, he individually discussed the major research topics and gave suggestions to the students on how to execute it. He also shared his experiences in research work, providing a valuable learning experience for the students. Students were encouraged and motivated to conduct research which can be published in UGC care list Journals. At the end of the session, students interacted to clear their doubts relevant to research topics. The students expressed in their feedback that the session was informative and interactive. The session concluded at 4.20 pm with vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nashwa Iqbal. Altogether, 16 students and 4 faculties were part of this event.
