As a part of the Post Graduate Common Forum activity, the second-year students of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Substance Abuse Control Committee, conducted an awareness programme on the theme "CHAITHANYA: An Anti-Drug Awareness Programme” on 31st July 2024 at 3:30 PM in the Maria Paiva Hall of the college.

The primary goal of the programme was to raise awareness about drug abuse and its detrimental effects on youth, as well as to provide insights into preventive measures. The programme began with a prayer invoking God’s blessings, followed by a formal welcome by Ms. Shravya S. Rai, a student of second year MSc CFS (FPCJ). Further, Ms. Fathima Farasath, a student of MSc CFS (FPCJ) delivered a session stressing on the effects of drug on youth, Physical and Psychological impact of drug abuse, prevention and laws related to it.

The students of the second-year MSc Criminology and Forensic Science performed a skit on the theme highlighting about the evil of drug abuse such as family trauma, lack of parental care, societal ill-treatment, along with the preventive measure to overcome such issues. Further, students were engaged in an activity called "Finding the Missing Letters" for which the students were divided into eight groups. The activity was coordinated by Ms. Nicole Mendonca, a student of MSc CFS (FPCJ) and Ms. Sharol Steven, a student of MSC CFS (QDIE). Overall, the event served as a valuable platform for fostering awareness and dialogue surrounding drug abuse issues among youth. The session was well appreciated with positive feedback from students and faculties, stating the CFS team always sets a standard for forum activities.

The programme was held under the guidance of Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, and Ms. Nashwa Iqbal, Assistant Professor and Faculty Coordinator of Forensis Forum. The event wrapped at 4:30 PM with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nicole Mendonca, General Secretary of Student council and a group photograph. Altogether, 151 students and 8 faculties participated in the event. Second year students of MSc CFS Mr. Hevin Ujwal Vas successfully compered the event, and Ms. Adheena M compiled the report.
