On March 26, 2024, 22 students of the 2nd Year MSc Counselling conducted an outreach program on the topic of relapse prevention as part of psycho-education. The session, conducted in Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada, was held at Snehalaya Psycho-social Rehabilitation Centre near Pavoor Manjeshwar. The primary objective was to educate the inmates about relapse prevention strategies.
Commencing at 9:30 AM, the session engaged inmates across varying age groups, ranging from their 30s to 40s. The first session aimed to assess the inmates' existing awareness levels regarding relapse prevention. Subsequently, the second session focused on elucidating the concept of relapse, its various types, and methods for identifying warning signs. In the third session, emphasis was placed on understanding the causative and protective factors contributing to relapse, empowering the inmates to navigate challenging circumstances effectively. The final segment of the program aimed to equip the inmates with diverse strategies for preventing relapse.
Throughout the sessions, the inmates demonstrated active participation and engagement. They exhibited a keen understanding of relapse prevention concepts and expressed eagerness to implement the strategies discussed for maintaining their well-being.
