The I2E Forum of Secretarial Practice Department, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, organized an industrial visit to Shobavana, Alva’s Education, Alva’s Homeopathy Pharmacy, Soans Farm, and Dhanalaxmi Cashew Exports, Moodabidri, on 12th February 2025. A total of 48 students from BA and B.Com, accompanied by 03 faculty members, participated in the visit. The primary objective was to gain insights into the working processes of these institutions and develop practical experience.
1. Shobavana, Alva’s Education
Our visit to Shobavana at Alva’s Education began at 10:50 AM. We explored a variety of medicinal herbs and plants, learning about their applications. Mr. Muthappa B.K. provided valuable insights into the different plants grown in the garden and their medicinal benefits. Following this, we visited the butterfly garden, where we observed butterflies in their natural habitat, making the experience even more enriching.
2. Alva’s Homeopathy Pharmacy
At 12:10 PM, we arrived at Alva’s Homeopathy Pharmacy, where we observed the process of transforming herbal products into various forms such as tablets, syrups, and leha. We were introduced to different machines, including dryers, heaters, and boilers used for fermentation, as well as the pulverizing section for grinding procedures and the raw material storage area. We then entered the laboratory, where products undergo rigorous testing and approval before being deemed fit for use. Ms. Poojashree provided us with a detailed explanation of the entire process, making the visit highly informative
3. Soans Pineapple Farm
We reached Soans Farm at 2:06 PM, a place rich in horticultural and biological diversity. During our visit, we explored a variety of exotic fruits, nursery plants, and spices. The farm also offers a farm stay, enhancing its appeal. Walking through the farm was an educational experience, allowing us to learn about various plants and trees. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, which concluded with refreshing fresh pineapple juice, free from water or added sugar. Some students also purchased pineapples and juice, making the experience even more memorable.
4. Dhanalaxmi Cashew Exports
We arrived at Dhanalaxmi Cashew Exports at 3:33 PM, where we explored the cashew processing factory. Each section had a distinct work procedure, and the friendly staff guided us through the entire process. We observed how fresh cashews are processed and learned about the various types of cashews and their production methods. The visit provided valuable insights into the intricate steps involved in cashew manufacturing, making it an informative and engaging experience.
The industrial visit was a valuable learning opportunity, offering practical exposure to different industries. The students gained first-hand knowledge of various operational processes, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. We returned to college at 5:30 PM in the evening.
