A session on “Stress and Anxiety Management” was conducted by, Radhika Nayak, in collaboration with Akshaya Bhandary, students of II MSC Counselling, at Canara College, Mangaluru, on 19th March, 2024. The session was attended by 50 students from B. Com and B.BA streams.
The session was interactive and the participants eagerly participated in learning the techniques, sharing experiences, and asking questions where needed. The session explored the different aspects of stress and anxiety management, differences between stress and anxiety, using creativity in stress management, how hobbies and interests like, dance, music, arts and crafts could help with stress management, different techniques that could be applied anywhere and specific techniques that needed to be learnt well and practiced on a regular basis. Some of the techniques taught, demonstrated and practiced were, abdominal box breathing, muscle relaxation techniques, guided imagery, and mindfulness exercises. The importance of healthy diet, healthy habits like physical exercise were discussed.
The session concluded on the note, that each individual had to find out what works best for themselves and there is no one size fits all, stress buster. The participants mentioned the session was informative and they would definitely benefit from all that they had learnt, as these techniques can be utilised by an individual at any given point of their life.
