Virtual workshop was organized on July 12, 2024 at 2pm. This workshop was on exploring career opportunities for Social Workers at Ireland. The resource person for this workshop was our own alumni 2007-2009 batch Mr. Melwyn Fernandes , working as a support worker for NUA Health care, Ireland. He addressed our final year Medical & Psychiatric Social Work students. Mr. Fernandes shared a few glimpses of Ireland, opportunities available and the challenges he faced while working with the autistic children and disabled adults. Some of our participants were enthusiastic on moving abroad for higher studies and some for work. Mr. Fernandes guided them on procedures they need to follow, documentation to be done and identify potential employers for those seeking jobs. Those participants interested in higher education were helped to identify universities that fulfill their requirements. Mr. Fernandes also helped the participants gain practical skills on how to prepare for work abroad. Real-life problem solving techniques based on real-life scenarios were also discussed with the participants. The participants highly appreciated this workshop. A total number of 25 participants attended this workshop.
