The students of PG Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC), St.Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore, in association with non-government organization Hasirudala (Green Force) organized a social event ‘Save The Hiss’, a snake protection and awareness session. The resource person for the session was Atul Pai, well known snake rescuer from Mangaluru. The session was held on June 27th 2022 at 11am in School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya (Autonomous) College, Mangaluru. Atul Pai, Nagaraj Bajal (Hasirudala), Dr Jenis Mary, Vice Principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya (Autonomous) College were the chief guests of the event. Mrs Anuradha Shetty, HOD of Rural Development coordinated the event. Ms Shravya Nayak from II BA was the master of ceremony and Mr. Jason Lobo from II BA invoked almighty blessings. Save the Hiss, a snake awareness session was organized for the undergraduate students. Ms. Jenis Mary, addressed the gathering. Nagaraj Bajal, the co-ordinator of the NGO also spoke a few words. The resource person Mr.Atul Pai created awareness among students on various species of snakes, antidotes, and do’s and don'ts in Snake bites. The session included demonstration of tools used for snake rescuing, antidotes and also presented videos on the steps in snake rescuing followed by a question answer session. Miss Ananya Sathish from II BA delivered a vote of thanks. As many as one hundred and thirty students attended the session.
