The SAHAYOG Forum, BSW Department, and IQAC of the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, successfully organized a Dance Drama Competition on August 20, 2024, in the college auditorium. This event was a key highlight of the Sadbhavana Diwas 2024 celebrations and was centred around the theme "Unity in Diversity: Embracing Our Differences."

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students across various classes, with each team presenting a unique and creative interpretation of the theme. The performances, a harmonious blend of dance and drama, reflected the core values of inclusivity, unity, and the celebration of diversity within our community.

Highlights of the Competition:
- Team Composition: Each class was represented by a team comprising 8 to 10 members. The students’ performances skilfully integrated acting with dance, making their presentations both impactful and thought-provoking.
- Judging Criteria: The performances were evaluated based on choreography, coordination, creativity, the number of participants, and thematic adherence. Special emphasis was placed on the seamless integration of acting into the dance routines, which added depth and resonance to the presentations.

Judges:
The competition was judged by Ms. Varsha Lobo, a distinguished model and beauty pageant winner, and Mr. Thomas, an esteemed choreographer. Their expertise brought a critical and insightful perspective to the judging process, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation of each performance.

Winners of the competition was announced on 22 August 2024:
- First Prize: Second-Year BSW students for their powerful and moving portrayal of unity.
- Second Prize: Second-Year BA students for their dynamic and creative performance.

Event Organization:
The event was meticulously organized under the leadership of Mrs. Veena B K, Head of the BSW Department with support of BSW Faculty, Dr. Saritha D'Souza, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. Sophia N Fernandes, Principal of the college. The rules for the performances included a strict time limit of 4+1 minutes, with the use of props allowed, though fire and water were prohibited. All music was submitted a day in advance to ensure smooth proceedings.

The Dance Drama Competition was a vibrant and successful event, with six teams showcasing the students' creative talents while reinforcing the vital message of unity in diversity. The event not only highlighted the importance of social harmony but also provided a platform for students to express their perspectives and ideas through the performing arts.
