The First year BA/BSW/B. Com students accompanied by their parents/guardians assembled at 9:30 am in the college auditorium on Monday, 15th July 2024 for the Student Induction Programme. The programme began with invoking God’s blessings through a soulful rendition by the students. Asst. Prof. Manuel D’Souza, Department of English compered the programme and welcomed the gathering. This was followed by the faculty introducing themselves.

Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Farida Goveas, Registrar (Evaluation) congratulated the parents and students for choosing an ‘A’ grade Autonomous institution conferred by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, for their academic studies. The Registrar (E) spoke on autonomy status, Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), the different programmes offered at the UG and PG levels, features of the State Education Policy and the Examination system followed as per Mangalore University guidelines.

Dr. Sandra Sunitha Lobo, Dean (UG Studies) provided awareness to the gathering of parents/guardians, students and teachers on the Code of Conduct (Code of Ethics) of the College as stated in the college calendar. She emphasized the safety facilities (CCTV) in the campus. She expressed how students shall conduct themselves both within and outside the college premises in a befitting manner. Various acts of commission/omission related to ragging, use of mobiles in class, and involvement in any form of substance abuse were explicitly detailed. She further stressed that gross violations of the Code of Conduct were liable to invoke appropriate disciplinary action by the Disciplinary Actions Committee (DAC). She stressed the students’ adherence to all rules, compulsorily wearing college uniforms and gave details on the mentoring system. She reiterated that the Code of Conduct is displayed on the college website and urged parents and guardians to read all the rules and regulations printed on the Academic Calendar/ Handbook and join together towards fostering holistic development in their wards. Besides, information was given on the zero-tolerance policy, Plastic/Tobacco/Substance Free campus. She concluded with an inspirational quote "Decisions help us start, but discipline helps us finish"

Asst. Prof. Anusuya Kamath introduced the gathering to the composition, objectives and functioning of Parents Resource Group (PRG). Parents later volunteered as Core Executive Committee members of PRG.

Asst. Prof. Manuel D’Souza delivered a vote of thanks. The programme concluded at 11 am. The students and parents later met their respective mentors and the outstation students met the principal thereafter. 77 students participated along with their parents in this orientation program.
