The II BA/BSW and III BA/BSW assembled in the auditorium on Thursday, 11 July at 11:45 a.m. Dr. Sandra Lobo, the Dean of UG studies, began by emphasizing the importance of maintaining discipline both inside and outside the classroom. She highlighted the serious issue of ragging, urging students to foster a respectful and safe environment. Dr. Lobo discussed the responsible use of mobile phones, encouraging students to limit their use to appropriate times and places. She introduced initiatives aimed at maintaining the campus’s cleanliness and safety, such as not littering, keeping the area tobacco-free, protecting the greenery, and avoiding vandalism. Dr. Lobo stressed the importance of wearing uniforms regularly, attending morning assemblies, and refraining from using foul language. Dr. Lobo also stressed the importance of regular class attendance, noting the requirement for students to maintain at least 75% attendance in each subject/language. Students with attendance shortage could make up for it within three weeks after the monthly issuance of attendance reports by teachers. In cases of medical absence, students are required to submit both soft and hard copies of their medical certificates to their mentors and the Dean, respectively. She concluded with a motivational quote: "Consistent efforts on discipline will yield success." Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Goveas, Registrar (Evaluation) welcomed and enthused the students them for having took the stage excelled in their end semester exams and offered words of encouragement to those who had not cleared the same, she urged them to learn from their mistakes and persevere. The Registrar (E) highlighted the importance of internal exams and the consistent timely submission of assignments and projects. She reminded students that no re-exams would be conducted for those who miss internal exams. However, a comprehensive exam covering the entire syllabus would be conducted before the final end semester exams. The Dean (UG Studies) and Registrar (E) underscored the importance of discipline, regular attendance, and consistent academic efforts, setting a strong tone for the coming academic year. A total of 130 students from BA and BSW participated in this session.
