Youth Red Cross Events

As part of the Service Extension Programme, thirteen Youth Red Cross Volunteers of School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya successfully completed their internship in two different batches- The first batch was on 2nd February 2023 to 10th February 2023 and the second batch was on 6th February 2023 to 14th February 2023 at Wenlock District Hospital, Mangaluru. They were guided by Mr Ravindra, in charge at the hospital, who gave an insight into various facilities available in the hospital to the volunteers. He assigned tasks to volunteers and gave instructions to do them regularly for Eight days. The interns took turns helping out in different wards- registration work at OPD, front line service (entrance), assigned duties in the child ward, Disability Certificate issuing center, E.C.G room and wound dressing room, where they helped around with registration of patient’s details and assisting nurses and guiding people around. The hospital has a facility of a community library where YRC volunteers take turns going around different wards distributing books and magazines to the patients. Along with this, volunteers also attended informative talks by Resource Persons.

On the 4th of February 2023, (World Cancer Awareness Day), the hospital organised an informative session on the premises where volunteers had the chance to enact a skit on Cancer awareness. On 10th February 2023, YRC volunteers visited the Red Cross Blood Bank Unit at Lady Goschen Hospital, Mangaluru and Ms. Khathija Mehtha I BSW YRC volunteer donated blood.
