An orientation programme on gender sensitization was conducted in Bharat (English Medium School), Bharati (Kannada Medium School), B.E.M High School and Joy Land School, Ulall for 24, 30, 60 & 70 students respectively on 12, 13 and 15 March 2021 by 2 student (facilitators) of II M.Sc. Counselling, Sr. Blessy and Ms. Namratha Holla.
Faculties of the Commerce department in Maps College approached the facilitators to take this topic for 10th and 9th standard students. The aim of the session was to educate the students on gender differences and how to be more respectful towards each other. The session covered the topic of puberty, boundaries, good touch and bad touch and effects of social media and technology nowadays. Both the facilitators brainstormed, talked to the faculty about what are the requirements for each school and prepared a powerpoint presentation for the session.
The students were interactive and were active throughout the session. They were actively answering the questions that the facilitators were asking them and paid careful attention to everything the facilitators informed them. Each session was 40-60 minutes long.
