The Department of M.Sc.Counselling School of Social Work , Roshni Nilaya, Manglore conducted a four hours session on the topic “Resilience and optimism” at NCR Corporation. Facilitated by Anusha Kamath, Mariam Lishana, Awamma Jusaira, Adarsh MV, Nasreena Nasar, Saphia Bustan, and Sneha VK, II MSc Counselling students on 16th 2023. The employees of NCR corporation were the recipients of the extension programme.
The objectives of the session were to assess participant’s build resilience and optimism in life in general and to learn about how being resilient has an impact on gainful employment and techniques to enhance resilience and optimism among the workers of NCR Corporation. The recipients were 30 IT professionals who work in hybrid mode. The session intended to help them have an optimistic outlook at work and in personal life.
The facilitators conducted an assessment to explore gainful employment among the participants. The facilitators trained the participants with mindfulness, empathy, gratitude, ways of expressing gratitude towards others, seeking help, being grateful, and techniques to enhance resilience and optimism. They were also informed about the importance of resilience in professional and personal success. The group members were able to relate to the content presented and shared their experience. The outcome of the session was that the participants were able to reflect back on their personal life and learned how they have come a long way from the opportunities that they have lost and build gratitude, and optimism.
