To commemorate International Day of Democracy, a 2500 km human chain was organized as a symbol of equality, unity, fraternity and participative governance across Karnataka, from Bidar to Chamarajanagar, to promote democratic values.
As part of the state-wide human chain program organized by the Karnataka State Government on International Day of Democracy (September 15), school/college children, NGO Representatives from Institutions formed a human chain on National Highway 66 and National Highway 73 passing through Mangaluru city.
The human chain was formed from Udupi-Hejamady border to Nanthoor Circle on NH 66 and from Arkula-Farangipete on NH 73 between 9:30 am and 10:30 am.
Youth Red Cross & NSS, teaching and non-teaching staff along with Under Graduate & Post Graduate students of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore participated in large numbers to form this Human Chain. Students and the general public joined hands to form a human chain to raise awareness of democratic ideas and values.
