An extension activity was organized by the Department of MSc Counselling at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, for the participants of Tripta Rehabilitation Center, Kankanady. The session was conducted by 13 second-year MSc Counselling students on 4th October 2024, from 12 PM to 1 PM, was designed for 30 participants who were dealing with substance abuse and mental health disorders. The objective of the session was to provide the participants with crucial information about relapse and relapse prevention strategies, with a focus on equipping them to manage relapses after they leave the rehabilitation center. The facilitators aimed to help the group understand how to overcome urges and potential relapses during their recovery.

The session began with an ice-breaking activity, which fostered group cohesion and created an environment where participants felt comfortable sharing and engaging. This was followed by a discussion on the main topic of relapse prevention. The key concept was introduced through an interactive "Confidence Canvas" exercise, which helped participants identify their strengths and reflect on their triggers—whether mental, physical, or social. The activity encouraged them to recognize potential relapse risks and understand their personal resilience. In addition, the facilitators taught various techniques to manage urges, such as distraction strategies and mindfulness practices, which the participants could use to prevent relapses by staying focused and in control during challenging moments.

The session concluded with a summary of the key points, reinforcing the importance of identifying and managing triggers, and implementing the learned strategies in daily life. Feedback was gathered from the participants, allowing the facilitators to evaluate the session’s impact and gain insights into the participants' experiences. The overall session was an informative and interactive event designed to provide practical support for relapse prevention as the participants continue their journey toward .
