An extension activity was organized by the Department of MSc Counselling at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, for participants of Arivu Early Intervention, Shakti Nagar. The session, held on 17th October 2024, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, was conducted by three second-year MSc Counselling students. It was designed for 15 participants who had Learning Disabilities, Autism, and ADHD.

The objective of the session was to educate the participants about attention and concentration techniques, with a focus on helping them recognize types of distractions and strategies to improve their focus. The facilitators aimed to provide insights into managing distractions and techniques for maintaining attention.

The session began with an ice-breaking activity, fostering group cohesion and creating an engaging environment for the participants. This was followed by an exercise called "Focus and Distraction," which introduced the concept of distractions through an interactive process. Participants were guided through activities that helped them identify common distractions and strategies for managing them.

The key exercise focused on concentration techniques, where group leaders demonstrated how to focus by using a clock. Participants were taught to take deep breaths and hold their attention for one minute by observing the clock, enhancing their ability to concentrate.

The session concluded with a positive reflection, followed by processing questions that helped participants consolidate their learning. The facilitators ended the session on an encouraging note, reinforcing the importance of attention and concentration in daily activities.
