Indigenous Knowledge BankingThe educational process at School of Social Work is geared towards creating a student community based on human values. Besides academic growth, emphasis is also on moulding the students to be sensitive to their surroundings and to be socially responsible. The following steps are taken for academic advancements (special attention is given to slow and disadvantaged learners):
INDIVIDUAL GUIDANCE: The students are guided individually for their academic, professional and personal requirements. GROUP CONFERENCE / INTERACTIONS: Focus on group behaviour, social etiquettes, acquiring of professional knowledge and skills, attitudes and values needed in the profession. BRIDGE COURSE: Regular English classes are conducted for the entry-level of students, to facilitate those coming from vernacular medium schools and colleges. REMEDIAL CLASSES: They are organized and tests are conducted. The slow learners are given help through teaching in vernacular language. EXTRA COACHING: In practical sessions, personal attention through mentoring is provided. PERSONAL COUNSELLING: Teachers counsel students to instill in them motivation and self-confidence to enable them to cope with challenges. To make learning experiential Seminars and workshops are organised. The experience gained through Field Practicum, Industrial Visits, Skill Development, Practicals and innovative methods used in teaching-learning and evaluation are other components of experiential learning. Sustained effort is made towards Personality Development. The following are some of the activities in this direction: Regular programmes of Personality Development and Leadership Training provide necessary skills to face the modern challenges.
