The IQAC and MSW (HR Department) of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, organised “Prastuti” an Online Student Development Programme from 21st to 25th SEPTEMBER 2021 on Placement Preparation for final year MSW HR students in association with EdgenextHR, an HR Consulting firm founded by HR professionals with vast experience in the industry.
This workshop was conducted with the main aim on giving students hands-on experience of the placement preparation so that they would better understand their first roles in the corporate world and develop confidence to navigate challenging situations better.
As students typically get three opportunities (Resume, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview) to create the impact, PRASTUTI had sessions covering these areas with practical tips on how to do the same effectively. Individual attention was given to all the students by the experts and appropriate feedback on areas for improvement were identified for each student.
The first session was an introductory session on 21st September where the students were acquainted with Edgenext HR and how the future sessions were to be conducted. The last session was held on 25th of September. Each session were conducted between 2pm to 5pm.
The program was inaugurated on 21st September by Mr Chethan Mendonca –Group General Manager –HR (MCF Ltd) Mangalore. The Principal of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya Dr Juliet CJ presided over the Programme. Vice Principal Dr. Jenis Mary .P, Head of the MSW Department Ms. Eveleenn Benis, Dean Academics- Dr Sebastin KV were present during the occasion. Ms Snigdhanjali Mohanty, Co founder of Edgenext HR and an experienced HR professional, briefly introduced the basic concepts and the process flow for the entire programme..
22nd September, Mr Nithin Kumar who is an experienced business leader with more than 15 years of deep expertise across talent management and organisational design addressed the students and spoke about the significance of the 5 pillars in the life of an HR Professional to be successful namely knowledge, learning, communication, analytical mindset and attitude.
Ms. Snighdhanjali shared the art of writing a resume and shared the do’s and don’ts of writing a resume and how to create maximum impact of the prospective employer. The session concluded with the participants preparing their own Resume in a professional manner.
23rd September, The participants were divided into small groups for the group discussion. Each of the groups were given a particular case study. During the group discussion, each participant was given an opportunity to share their points of view based on the case study. After the completion of each discussion, a feedback was shared by the Resource Person on the positive aspects and also areas for improvement. Ms. Snigdanjali Mohanthy and Ms. Parvathy
24th and 25th September individual personal interview was conducted for every participant and the feedback was also shared in a confidential manner with the student (prospective candidate). Each student was given training on how to tackle difficult situations that arise during an interview and how to make a positive impact on the prospective recruiter. The sessions helped the students gain confidence and self belief leading to enhancement in their personalities and obstacle conquering skills.
