Roshni Alumni Association (RAA) had a vibrant and meaningful existence in the past year. In addition to its regular monthly meetings, it had the following special projects and programmes with Dr Malini Hebbar as President and Ms Lyra Pinto as Secretary:
- RAA along with School of Social Work (SSW) organised ‘Maria Paiva Couceiro Memorial Lecture’ on 6 June 2023 with Lavina M Noronha, Director, Ave Maria Palliative Care, Mangaluru speaking on ‘Hospice Care: Striving for a Dignified End-of-Life’. Dr Jacinta D’Souza, Former Principal, SSW threw light on the significance of the day.
- On 30 July 2023, RAA organized an online Fellowship Meet, offering the chance for the Alumni from different parts of the world to come together with many fun activities with the tagline ‘Let’s go glocal.’
- ISTD, Mangalore Udupi Chapter signed and MOU with the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya on 15 September 2023, which was an initiative by RAA. The signing of the MOU was followed by training sessions by ISTD members for the students of Roshni Nilaya for two days on pro bono basis.
- On 19 October 2023, an AGM was held to approve the Annual Audited Account of RAA.
- RAA joined hands with SSW Management and Convenor Prof. Maria Phyllis D’Costa in honouring the nonagenarian, former HOD of English of SSW, Prof. Frances G Colaco on 13 November 2023.
- Sammilana, the Annual Homecoming Event was held on 16 December 2023 with Fun and Fellowship Activities.
RAA is all set to organize a Global Alumni Meet on 28 September 2024 and it remains indebted to the Principal and the Management of School of Social Work, for the continuous support and consistent help.
