The Anti-Pollution Drive and Hasiru Dala foundation organized a Programme on 9th June ,2022 on the occasion of “World Ocean Day” near Nethravathi River Bridge. The programme was hosted by Mr.Nagaraj an environment Activist. Mr.Premanandha Shetty the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation inaugurated the ceremony of placing placards which was fixed to create public awareness for not to throw waste near the Nertavathy Bridge. While addressing the gathering he stated that saving the river Nethravathi is our collective responsibility as this river has been a powerful source to many. Besides, Netravathy river is also considered as one of the holy rivers of India. Hence it is significant all the more people to ensure its cleanliness.

 

 

 

Mr.Nagaraj the Environmental activist appreciated the enthusiasm of all the college students, NGO’s, private organizations, institutions and other associations who joined hands to clean the river Nethravathi and for the disposal of wastes. He recalled the selfless service of the many who tirelessly worked in saving and cleaning the waste which were thrown in and around of Netravti river. As a token of appreciation they were given Certificates for their dedication and commitment . The Social Work Trainees from School of Social Work,Roshni Nilaya were privileged to receive this recognition from Mayor himself in the programme. There were many other dignitaries present for the Programme. Among the other participants the students from Aloysius Degree College and Volunteers from various other organizations too participated in the programme. The Dean of Research Dr. Meena Monteiro, MSW,Studnt Welfare officer Ms. Jinsa Joseph and Ms Colin D Souza and the Alumni of SSW Roshni Nilaya Mr. Kishor Attavar were among the many who attended the programme from School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. The programme ended with refreshments.
