SESSIONS ON OFFENCES RELATED TO PROPERTY AND VICTIM ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME
The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized session for first MSc CFS students on “Offences Related to Property as per Indian Penal Code(IPC)” on 29th November 2021 at 9:30 am. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Niketh P S, Security Officer, L & L Security Services Private Limited, Shimoga, Karnataka and also an Alumnus of the Institution.
As a part of the curriculum, Criminal Laws and Procedures followed in the Criminal Justice System in India, the Resource Person spoke about conceptual understanding of various Property crime as in IPC such as Theft, Robbery, Dacoity, Extortion, House Breaking, House Trespass, Criminal breach of Trust, Cheating, Fraud etc., He discussed about various cases relevant to the sections and the penalties prescribed for the acts. Altogether 20 students actively participated in the session.
Another session was organized for the Second Year students of MSc CFS Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice specialization on the topic ‘Victim Assistance”. He discussed about the types of Victim Assistance, National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA), compensation to the victims of crime, legal amendments, State Victim Assistance Fund (SVAF) U.N declaration on basic principles of justice of victim. There was interaction on the case studies relevant to the theme and the queries pertaining to the victims of crime. Totally 7 students had participated during the discussion.
