As a part of Forensis Forum Activity, the Post Graduate Criminology and Forensic Science(CFS) had organized a group competition on the theme “Swadhishta: Cooking without fire” held on 13th October 2023 at 2:00 pm in the PG Department of CFS of the college. The main objective of this event was to foster a sense of unity and creativity among the students of various tradition, to promote harmony and social integration.
The members of forum were divided into 4 groups consisting of 9 members in each such as Sherlock Holmes, Perry Mason, Brennan and Nancy Drew. Each main group was asked to split into 2 subgroups. The rules of the competition were no appliances would be provided ,40 minutes was given for preparation and presentation, getting ready made food and presenting it was not considered. DR. Sebastian K V Dean, Academics and Associate Professor of Social Work of the college, and MR. Abhijith Kolpe, Senior Correspondent, Daijiworld News and also active participant in cooking competition held in media were the judges for the competition. The dishes were judged based on creativity, presentation and taste.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr Saritha D’souza, Head, PG department of Criminology and Forensic Science and Ms. Athira V.J. Assistant Professor and Faculty Coordinator of Forensis Forum. The second year students of the department Ms Aishwarya Sathya, President and Ms. Nashwa Iqbal, Secretary of Forensis Forum had taken the initiative to organize the event. Each group presented several mouthwatering dishes of different cuisines showing their inner chef and creativity of cooking. The judges after tasting the dishes prepared by all 8 groups assigned the points as per the criteria. Team Temperance Brennan1won the first place, the team member were Diya Marian Rajan, Lois M Girish, Priyanka M K, Elizabeth Deepika, Shamil Hanan K, Vishnu Prasad, Aaron Sajith Kingsley, Nelisha Cutinha, Saumini Seelan.
Soon after the competition, Dr Saritha D ’Souza appreciated for the active participation and the efforts taken by the students. The judges gave positive feedback and congratulated all the enthusiastic students on their active participation. Students enjoyed the healthy competition held among themselves and it was a very mind refreshing program in mid of all the academic work. The program was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms Aishwarya sathya, at 4:15pm. Altogether, 38 students and 5 faculties were part of the event.
