Report by, Ms. Jyothsna, second year students of Questioned Document and Impression Evidence specialization cum Media Coordinator
As a part of practical curriculum, the second-year students of Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Questioned Document and Impression Evidence (QDIE) had visited the Questioned Document Division of the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL), Kuntikana, Mangaluru on 16th February, 2024 at 10:15 am accompanied by Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Assistant Professor of the Department and intern Ms. Ananya Angel.
The main aim of the visit was to know the structure and functions of the Questioned Document division of RFSL, to learn the forensic analysis of documents using modern Instruments and to get an insight into the expert opinion provided by the scientific officers. Dr. Raghavendra Naik, Scientific officer of Questioned document division interacted with the students. General aspects of questioned documents and importance was shared. Further, students were demonstrated the analysis of handwriting and signature using Video Spectral Comparator.
Students expressed that the visit was informative and could get to interact with the scientific officers and to gain more insight into expert opinion. The visit concluded at 1.15pm with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nashwa Iqbal, second year student of the department. Altogether 11 students, three faculties and an intern were part of the visit.
