The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized a session on the topic “Application of Statistical Tools in Forensic Research” for Second year students of MSc CFS both Questioned Document and Impression Evidences (QDIE) and Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice (FPCJ) specializations on 13th February 2024 at 1.30 pm in the PG Department of CFS. Mr. Vajagathali M Assistant Professor, Department of Forensic Science, Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management, Yenepoya University (deemed to be) Kulur, Mangaluru and alumnus of the institution was the resource person. He was conferred with ‘Young Researcher Award 2021’ by the Institute of Scholars and has published various research articles in Web of Science, Scopus index, presented research papers in various national and international conferences.

There was discussion about various statistical tools that can be used for data interpretation and also advised students to undergo research with respect to the Forensic field. He also motivated students to publish the research articles in UGC care list, Scopus Index/Web of Science by providing insight into the procedures. The students expressed in their feedback that the session was informative and interactive. The session concluded at 4 pm. Altogether, 17 students were present for the session. Ms. Jyothsna second year student, cum Media Coordinator of the department compiled the report.
