The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science in association with Forensic Alumni Association Roshni Mangaluru (FAARM) had organized the Fourth lecture of “Series of Guest Lecture by Alumni” on the topic “Unlocking the Mind: Techniques of Forensic Hypnosis” for the second-year students of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science specializing in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice on 21st September 2024 in the PG Department of Criminology and Forensic Science via Google Meet.

Ms. J. Shravya, Regional Head at Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science, Hyderabad was the resource person. Ms. Fathima Farasath, 2nd year MSc student welcomed everyone and introduced the speaker. Mr. Niketh P S, Assistant Professor of MSc CFS briefly explained the purpose of the guest lecture. The objective of the lecture was to learn about forensic hypnosis and its discovery along with the procedure of conduction. Ms. Shravya started the session by explaining forensic hypnosis and hypno- investigation. She also explained the principles and dynamics of forensic hypnosis, the seven stages of hypnosis, role of forensic hypnotist, guidelines for forensic hypnosis, difference between therapeutic and investigative hypnosis and she also told the challenges related to the use of forensic hypnosis along with few case studies. Ms. Shravya concluded the lecture by discussing the real life challenges in hypnosis and career opportunities in the field.

The interactive nature of the lecture, with enthusiastic student participation and questions, underscored the success of the day’s learning experience. Altogether there were 8 students, and the lecture ended with a vote of thanks by 2nd MSc student Ms. Shravya S Rai.
