On the occasion of “Vigilance Awareness Week 2024”, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Forensis Forum of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science organized an Anti-Corruption Awareness Programme on the theme “Prati-Bhrashtachara” as a part of the Post Graduate Common Forum activity on 16th October 2024 at 3:30 PM in Maria Paiva Hall.

The aim of the program was to create an awareness about the occurrence of corruption in various sectors, to know the causes and its impact on the society, to highlight the laws and punishment related to corruption. The first-year students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, took an initiative to conduct the event which included a session, a short film, and an interactive activity connected to the anti-corruption.

The program began with prayer and a formal welcome. Ms.  Shirlene Jewel Maben presented a conceptual overview of the theme, addressing the causes of corruption, the sectors most affected by it, its impact on the socioeconomic status of the country, Strategies to prevent and the relevant laws focusing much on Indian Penal Code(IPC)/ Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988. Further, a  short film titled “UNVEILING” was released which focused on corruption in different government sectors, its root causes and significance of Vigilance. Thereafter, an activity was organized involving the students by dividing them into groups and were asked to enact within the limited duration on the topic prevention of corruption in various social institutions. The group with the effective presentation on the theme through their act involving all team members, relevance of theme, effective communication was awarded as winner.

The participants expressed that the programme was informative involving all means of communication about the theme. The event concluded at 4.45pm with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Prabhu Sai Soujanya. Ms. Cressida Mascarenhas compered the whole event successfully. Altogether, 115 students and 10 faculties were present on this occasion.
