The students of 2nd Year MSc Counselling conducted an Extension programme on the topic of Wellbeing, as a part of psychoeducation. The session was addressed in Malayalam to the 40 women of Kutumbashree of Mangalpady panchayat on 20th February 2024 and to the women's Self-Help Group of Manya Kasaragod on 21st February 2024. The aim of the session was to improve their subjective well-being.
The session began at 2:00 pm. The members involved are all women aged 30 to 50s. Session one included orientation to the programme and circulating of questionnaire regarding general well-being. The second session was focused on the physical aspect of well-being where women were educated about the importance of having good physical health and how they can maintain it. The third session focused on the emotional aspect of well-being where women were educated on types of emotions, how they can have an emotional balance and the skills required to express emotions effectively. The final session aimed at educating them about social well-being. Techniques to explore their social support were taught through various activities and exercises.
The women participated actively in all of the sessions. They were able to gain insight into their subjective well-being, learn techniques to strengthen their physical health, broaden their social well-being, and learn a variety of skills to improve their emotional wellness.
