The Sahayog Forum- BSW Department School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, collaborated with Shakthi Friends Club, Mangalore, and Father Muller College, Kankanady, Mangalore, to organize a speech and hearing testing programme for the residents of Shakthinagara Community on February 17, 2024. The programme aimed to provide free speech and hearing tests to elders, youth, and children.
Assistant Professor Ms. Jovita Priya Tauro from Father Muller's College briefed the participants on the testing process, ensuring a smooth and informative experience. The programme witnessed active participation from all attendees, demonstrating their enthusiasm and cooperation.

The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Razak, President of Shakthi Friends Club, Mrs. Akshatha, President of Balavikasa, Asha workers Mrs. Roopa and Mrs. Soumya, Anganwadi Teacher Mrs. Girija, and members of Shakthi Friends Club. The club sponsored refreshments for the programme.
The initiative was organized by Final year BSW students - Ms. Shalma Rodrigues, Ms. Sweeni Rodrigues, and Mr. Mohammad Roshan - under the guidance of Assistant Professor Veena B. K, Field Work Supervisor, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. The programme successfully screened approximately 50 community members, promoting early detection and intervention for speech and hearing issues.
This collaborative effort demonstrated the commitment of the participating institutions to the well-being and development of the community.
