The SAHAYOG Forum - BSW Department School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, Dharmajyothi Social Centre, Vamanjoor, and Father Muller College, Kankanady, Mangalore, collaborated to organize a speech and hearing testing program for the students of Vidya Jyothi English Medium School, Vamanjoor on February 16, 2024.
The programme commenced with a briefing by Ms. Christy Crasta, Grade 1 Audiologist, who explained the testing process to the students. The students actively participated in the programme, demonstrating their cooperation and enthusiasm. Due to the large number of students, the testing was conducted in two phases, with the remaining classes scheduled for the following week.
The programme was attended by esteemed guests, including Sr. Veronica, Principal of Vidyajyothi School, Sr. Joyal, Mrs. Renita from Dharmajyothi Social Centre, and faculty members from the participating institutions. The event was organized by Ms. Ancita Teresa Crasta and Mr. Alwes Stephen, third-year BSW students, under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Veena B. K, Field Work Supervisor, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore.
The programme successfully examined over 150 students, promoting early detection and intervention for speech and hearing issues. The collaborative effort demonstrated the commitment of the participating institutions to the well-being and development of the students.
