Roshni Nilaya Alumni Association Bengaluru chapter, Roshni Nilaya Alumni Association Mangaluru chapter, Nava Karnataka confederation of industries and commerce, Atal Incubation center NITTE in association with School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya Mangaluru organized faculty development and student development program on the theme Entrepreneurship and employability skills development on 23rd August, 2022. Dr Ananthpadmanabha Achar, chief executive officer Atal Incubation center NITTE was the keynote speaker. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Juliet CJ, Principal School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. Dr Jenis Mary, vice principal, was the chief guest at the inaugural. Mr.Anathpathnabha Achar in his inaugural address appreciated the institution for all the services being rendered and acknowledged the Alumni association and their dedication especially the President of the Roshni Alumni Association, Bangalore chapter Mr. Jagadish Shekar Naik. Dr. Achar spoke about his perspective on the relevance of employment skills by sharing his own life journey and concluded by saying that mothers are the best entrepreneurs. Prof. Vineetha Pereira Compered the Inaugural function.

The session began with Dr. Ananthpathnabha Achar speaking on the "Dynamics of entrepreneurship". He encouraged female participants to enter the world of business. He emphasized that an entrepreneur should have proper training and skills to create, develop and manage a business venture with personal risk for potential profits. He motivated the participants and highlighted the several paths which can lead to becoming a successful entrepreneur possessing traits such as competence, perseverance, effectiveness and planning.

The Second session began at 12:00 pm with resource person Dr. Nandeesh YD, Head of department Social work, and Government First Grade College Uppinagady presiding over the forum. He stated critical thinking is an objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment, he also highlighted critical thinking is not just about being critical and finding the mistakes, several things to be considered in thinking which include alternative thinking, overcome from the hesitation, self-introspection, filter the information which we have received. Dr.Namdeesh also spoke about problem-solving. He asked the participants to understand the nature of the problem and define it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The third session of the faculty development program on entrepreneurship and employability skills development was presided over by CA Shri S Snayak, past chairman, the ICAI Mangalore branch. His topic was essential management tools for entrepreneurs. He explained to the participants the 4D’s of management - determination, discipline, dedication and delegation; How to be a good leader by having commitment, determination, passion, trust, and perseverance.

Professor Nidheesh Rao, Justice K.S Hedge Institute of Management, NITTE. was the last speaker of the day. He spoke on Brand, the concept of brand and its importance in company and marketing. He asked the students to recall some brands and asked them to give some examples. The session ended with questions and feedback

Day two of the faculty development programme began with a prayer and an inaugural address by the dignitaries. The session was then handed over to the keynote speaker our own alumni, Mr. Brian Fernandes.

Mr. Brian Fernandes, the director of Spearhead Media Pvt. ltd. Mr. Fernandes spoke on the concept of teamwork and collaboration. He conveyed the importance and significance of teamwork through various examples. He also used common situations as aids to explain the characteristics of teamwork, its Do’s and Don’t ‘s along with its know-how.

Day three of the faculty development programme was conducted on the 25th of August 2022 at 3.30 pm. The resource person was Dr. Mohan A K, Dean and Head of social science, department of the Social Work central university of Kerala.

Mr. Kunder spoke on the topic of Contemporary Pedagogical Techniques. The session concluded with appreciation and gratitude from the faculty members.

On day four the session was conducted in a virtual mode. The theme for the Programme was “Goal setting and Career Mentoring for the students”. ShriSanthoshRao, the associate Vice President at Toyota Industries Engine India, Bangalore commenced his session by asking general Questions to the audience. Then he focused on his topic and helped the participants to understand the various levels of goals. The need for setting goals is very relevant in this generation, having a goal in life gives a clear vision for the future. The clearer the goal, the more focused on life and life becomes an easy journey.

On Day five, Mr. Dheeraj Shetty, General Manager - HR of Ultraviolette Automotive addressed the participants in an offline mode. Mr. Shetty spoke on the topic "Advanced Leadership presentation, Personal growth and Effectiveness The session began with an activity and the speaker spoke about the need for building Confidence, how can confidence can mold a person to achieve better in life and also spoke about failures how to respond & learn from failure with the examples and quotes of great personalities. And also spoke about decision-making skills and their importance. The resource person conducted many interesting activities in between to refresh and to be active, every activity had learned. The speaker ended the session with a few motivational thoughts.

On day six August 29th Dr.Prashnatha Kumar the resource person highlighted contemporary pedagogical techniques. The session was exhaustive and useful. The participants were gripped by the eloquence of the resource person on the topic.

On day seven the energetic resource person Ms.Shammy Shiri addressed the topic of Case and Research writing. The speaker stressed extensively the significance and advantages of using case studies in our classroom. A major advantage of teaching with case studies is that the students are actively engaged in figuring out the principles by abstracting them from the examples. This develops their skills further in Problem solving, analytical tools, quantitative and/or qualitative, depending on the case. How can we include case studies in making our teaching more interesting? Further, a case study is designed to make you step into the shoes and think like one. The session has given us the motivation to make use of case studies in our teaching, and learning process. The session was highly inspirational. Valedictory programme soon after the last session.

Mr. Dheeraj Shetty, President Roshni Alumni Association Mangalore Chapter was the chief guest. He shared his experiences and the motivation he received through the Institution. Dr. Juliet C J thanked the alumni members for their support and collaboration. Mr. Jagadish Shekhar Naik, President Alumni Association, Bangalore, Chapter also expressed his gratitude to the Institution. Prof. Cecelia Goveas compared the valedictory Programme.
