Under the banner, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru and Trinity Forensic Investigation and Analysis, Mangaluru, organised a National Webinar on “Future Prospects in Criminology and Forensic Science” in fond memory of Late. Dr. B. Ashoka, Former Head of the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science (1979-2016) on 29th July 2019 at 10.30am on online Google meet platform.

Dr. Divyashree Herjai, Assistant Professor and Dean, School of Criminology and Crime Science, Raksha Shakthi University, Ahemadabad, Gujarat and also the Alumni of the College (Under Graduate 2005-2008 Batch) was the Guest Speaker for the day.

She stressed on the career prospects available in Criminology such as Research, Higher Education, Scholarships, Government services and various Private sectors that are the thrust areas. Every student must love the subject that they have chosen for their career and must seek the opportunities available she said.

 

Panelist Mr. Don Mathew Caeiro, Cyber Expert, Asstistant Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Science, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, spoke about the future prospects in Forensic Science both in private and public sectors.

Mr. Peter Kiran A. Forensic Expert, Assistant Professor and Co-ordinator, Post Graduate Department of Forensic Science, Jain University (Deemed to be), Bengaluru, also said that Forensic Science must be seen in broader aspects as it has several branches which a student can opt for their specialization.

Mr. Devaseelan S. Security and Intelligence Expert, Trinity Forensic Investigation and Analysis, Mangaluru and also Asstistant Professor, Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, were the other panelists who joined for the discussion on the theme. There were several questions and queries put forth by the participants in concern with their future prospects in the field of Criminology and Forensic Science. All the questions were taken for discussion and were clarified successfully by the panelists.

Dr. Juliet C.J. Principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya presided over the Webinar. Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Mangaluru gave the introductory note stating the purpose of organizing the webinar is to bring all the young and budding criminologist and Forensic Experts together under one platform to discuss about the future prospects in the field.

Faculties and students of both Undergraduate and Post Graduate Department of various universities, Autonomous Colleges across the country, and of the organising College, Alumni of the department and people from the field and allied areas were present during the discussion. A total of 720 participants had registered for the webinar including international student representatives.

Mr. Balajinarayan B. Asstistant Professor of Criminology and Forensic Science had taken the initiative to conduct the webinar. Mr. Amitesh V. Shetty, Assistant Professor of the department was the moderator for the webinar.
