On the occasion of “Vigilance Awareness Week”, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Forensis Forum of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science organized an awareness program on the theme “Prati-Bhrashtachara” as part of the PG Common Forum activity on 16th October 2024 at 3:30 PM in Maria Paiva Hall.

The aim of the program was to create awareness about the corruption in the society and to highlight the laws related to it along with their associated punishments. The activity, conducted by first-year students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, included a session, a short film, and an interactive activity.

The program began by Ms. Cressida Mascarenhas, a first-year MSc Criminology and Forensic Science student, welcoming the gathering followed by a short film titled “UNVEILING” was released, focusing on corruption in different government sectors and its root causes. Thereafter Ms. Shirlene Jewel Maben presented a conceptual overview of the theme, addressing the causes of corruption, the sectors most affected by it, its impact on the socioeconomic status of the country and the relevant laws including sections from the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988.

Following the session, an activity was organized in which students were divided into groups to enact the given theme within a time constraint. The group with the most points was declared the winner and was awarded.

The program concluded at 4:30 PM with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms.Prabhu Sai Soujanya a first-year MSc CFS student. Both students and faculty expressed positive feedback about the program. In total, 115 students and 6 faculty members attended the session.
