BSW Department- SAHAYOG Forum, and IQAC of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, jointly organized a workshop on "Participatory Learning and Action" on July 12, 2024. The event was attended by Thirty One Final Year BSW students in the A3 room at 1:30 pm. Assistant Professor Colin D'Souza introduced the resource person, Mrs. Ramya B, Assistant Professor, MSW Department, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore. Mrs. Ramya B expertly facilitated the session, beginning with an introduction to PLA. The students then embarked on a transect walk, exploring the college campus to gather information about its resources. The session also covered four essential techniques for Community Fieldwork. The workshop concluded with a Q&A session and a vote of thanks by Ms. Teresa Rose Santosh, Final Year BSW student. The programme was successfully organized under the leadership of Assistant Professor Veena B K, HoD of the BSW Department, with Assistant Professors Anusuya Kamath, Colin D'Souza, and Deepika Sanil was present. This engaging workshop enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of community concepts, resource identification, and effective documentation. The practical activities fostered teamwork and provided hands-on experience in community mapping and resource identification.
