As part of the Service Extension Programme, Twelve Youth Red Cross Volunteers from the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, successfully completed their internship at Wenlock District Hospital, Mangaluru, from 25th June to 30th June 2024. Under the guidance of Mr. Ravindra, the hospital in-charge, the volunteers gained valuable insights into the various facilities available at the hospital. He assigned them specific tasks and provided regular instructions throughout the six-day internship.
The interns rotated through different hospital wards, assisting with registration work at the OPD, front-line services at the entrance, and duties in the child ward, Disability Certificate Issuing Centre, ECG room, and wound dressing room. Their responsibilities included registering patient details, assisting nurses, and guiding visitors. Additionally, the hospital's community library service enabled YRC volunteers to distribute books and magazines to patients across different wards.
