School Of Social Work Roshni Nilaya (Autonomous) Mangalore and Prajwal Yuvaka Mandala® Souterpete, Mangalore organised Kesard Onji-Dina Rural Sports at Fisheries College Yekkur Mangalore on 11-09-2022. The main aim of organising these rural sports is to preserve culture and tradition of the region. The rural sports is a way of being connected with the traditional roots and sports played in the paddy fields prepares the paddy field for cultivation for next season.

Children, women, and youth from the surrounding area and the students of the college enthusiastically participated in large numbers in rural sports. The sports events organized as a part of the rural sports were race in muddy water, Volleyball, Throwball, tug of war, backward race in the water filled paddy fields, forming human pyramids to break earthen pots, running with water pots and folk dance performed in the slushy waters of the fields. Nearly 1000 people participated in the different events. The Inauguration of the rural sports was done by Sri. Nalin Kumar Kateel, State President of BJP, Sri Vedavyas Kamath, Local MLA Sri. Premananada Shetty, Sri. Mithun Rai, Dr. Juliet C. J Principal, School of Social, Work Roshni Nilaya (Autonomous) Mangalore, Ms. Evelyn Bennis, Secretary Institute of Social Service, were the chief guests during the inauguration.
