On July 30, 2024, The Anti-Human Trafficking Club (AHTC), Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), The UG Graduate Department of Criminology, Sahayog Forum - BSW Department of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru in collaboration with The Department of Women and Child Development, District Legal Services Authority, District Bar Association, Child Helpline, and District Child Protection Unit collaboratively organized an awareness event to mark "World Day against Trafficking in Persons." The focus of the event was on the Protection of Child Rights Act and Child Helpline services.

The program was inaugurated by Shobha B G, the Hon'ble Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dakshina Kannada District. Renny D'Souza, president of the Child Welfare Committee of Dakshina Kannada district, presided over the event and provided comprehensive information about the Child Justice Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), Adoption Act, and the functions of the Child Welfare Committee. Sarik Ankita, the Dean of Students' Progress and Head of the Department of Criminology at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, was the chief guest.

Shri Shukraraj S Kottary, the District Legal Custodian of Dakshina Kannada District Mangaluru, served as a resource person and delivered an in-depth presentation on human trafficking. He discussed its causes, effects, and preventive measures, as well as children's rights and various government facilities available to protect them.

The gathering was welcomed by Usman A, Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Child Development, who offered introductory remarks. Rashmi K. M., the Women and Child Development Officer, led the participants in taking a pledge to prevent human trafficking. The program was skilfully compered by Mrs. Anushya, the District Mission Coordinator of the District Women Empowerment Unit, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Kumar Shettigar, Protection Officer at the District Child Protection Unit.

The event saw participation from officers and staff of various departments, including the District Child Protection Unit, Child Helpline, Pre-University Education Department, School Education Department, Police Department, and other relevant agencies.
